What brought me to Doula work: I immediately felt attracted to birth work while studying herbalism and coming across Ina May’s book, Spiritual Midwifery. The contrast between the birth stories in this book and the difficult birth stories of my own mother and other women’s stories, it instilled in me an urge to want to play a role in re-establishing the dignity and reverence birthing people deserve when undertaking such a remarkable journey.
Tagline: "When we as a society begin to value mothers as the givers and supporters of life, then we will see social changes in ways that matter." - Ina May Gaskin My specialty: Through years of meditating, I am quite comfortable in my ability to hold a calm mental and physical state in the presence of fear, tension and chaos: feelings that naturally occur throughout pregnancy, birth and motherhood. I make an effort to extend that feeling outwards to whoever I am relating with, providing a gentle, safe environment for the delicate, powerful vulnerability of birth to unfold.
