Heather and James were connected through mutual friends, and through the first step into their house I knew we were kindred spirits. Chatting long past our prenatal, Heather giving a book recommendation, sipping tea and sharing time. They eventually even hooked me up with my own unit in their heritage building, sharing a hallway and strawberries at the park!
Halloween all around, but I was tethered to my phone and my thoughts were with Heather. As firecrackers rang, I got the call telling me it was time to join them both.
Wading through a costumed ER, through the much quieter halls of the labour & delivery ward I reached them. Heather worked and moved her hips in circles, James by her side with wet eyes and a tender spirit.
Time passed and the oxytocin rose and rose, a break was needed. Night fell and rest was had.
When I came back the next day, I found you curled on your Mom’s chest and Winnie the Pooh’s stories ringing through the air...
