Yukon Midwifery Home Birth Support

Maria is a young Dené artisan and a single mother, living in the Yukon.  She created this GoFundMe to help support her to give birth at home, with the support of a Midwife and an Indigenous Doula.
At Bunky Bambino, we believe that redistribution of wealth to our community, to marginalized folks and other BIPOC birth workers is an essential part of being an ethical business. Especially as we acknowledge that we live and work on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded Indigenous territories of the ʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh).

In saying and doing so, here are some of the GoFundMe's we have found, donated to and are wanting to share with our families. We believe in redistributing part of our profits year round, but are hoping the holidays and seasonal gift giving are an incentive for folks who are hoping to make it a more regular part of their financial structure.

Next  year, we are hoping to honour local initiatives,  folks and organizations exclusively. If you have any British Columbia based non-profits, services or birth workers - do let us know in the comments below!

As final reminders, let us continue to redistribute our wealth, do our best to have hard conversations with our communities and loved ones, and maintain openness and willingness to continue growing.

Doing Better With What We Have

We are so thrilled to be starting a new initiative  this month. Let me give you some back story on as to how this was created, and why.
We believe as a company that operates from privilege and profit, that it is our duty to community build beyond our families and services. Having a system and structures in place, to do better and try harder. We will be doing so by donating a percentage of our profits every month to select non-profits and community services. We picked these non-profits and services by picking out what felt most urgent and important to us. Pairing the causes with corresponding monthly awareness/initiatives. To check out what your finances are supporting this month, click on the “donations” highlight on our Instagram page.

This month is Human Trafficking Prevention month, so we found a local Vancouver non-profit (The SA Foundation) that
provides long-term recovery & development programs for women and children who have been affected by human trafficking & sexual exploitation.

Check back in later to find out what other wonderful causes will get highlighted in the coming months!
